Product Information

  • Individualized sound with Trueplay: The Trueplay software measures the unique properties of each room, such as size, layout, and furniture. It uses these nuances to customize the speaker’s settings and bring you an even richer sound quality.
  • Say it to your SONOS One: Music streaming with your voice is possible via Alexa or the Google Assistant. You can use voice commands to tell your SONOS One to play your favorite songs, turn up the volume or pause the music. You can even bring other SONOS speakers on board and play your music in multiple rooms.
  • Even at full volume: There's no need to shout over your loud music. The voice recognition technology will hear you anyway, thanks to integrated far-field microphones.
  • Tried and tested SONOS technology: The predecessor to the SONOS One was a small speaker capable of big sound - the PLAY:1. The One contains similar technology with two Class-D amplifiers as well as a tweeter and mid-woofer. They'll create that unique SONOS sound throughout your connected home.
  • Numerous music streaming services: 50 music streaming services can currently compatible with voice recognition, including Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music. Pause the music, skip a song, or change the volume - all with a simple voice command.
  • Google Assistant support: From May 2019 onwards, this SONOS speaker supports the Google Assistant, allowing you to use Google's voice assistant to fully control your speaker through simple voice commands. All it takes is a "Hey Google!"

These two SONOS speakers are very similar in terms of appearance and sound quality. The main difference lies in the way they are controlled: The SONOS One can be used with voice control or the touch pad, while the PLAY:1 can only be controlled with buttons or with an Amazon Echo or Echo Dot.

SONOS One in action

Futuristic speakers do much more than just stream music and the SONOS One is a pioneer of this movement. This compact speaker unites high-quality SONOS sound with the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice recognition technology – and does it astoundingly well. Its hardware is based on the well-established SONOS PLAY:1.

Small Speakers, Big Sound

As one of SONOS' smaller speakers, the SONOS One uses two class D amplifiers, a tweeter and a mid-woofer to deliver a rich sound. It also makes use of Trueplay technology, a software that uses information about the surrounding environment to optimize the sound for the perfect listening experience. Trueplay can be activated in the SONOS Controller app and generates an acoustic blueprint of the room. The smart speaker then knows exactly how to adjust each of its components to create flawless sound. Another special feature of the SONOS system is the multi-room feature. This can be used to expand your SONOS sound system by giving you the ability to play music in multiple rooms at the same time. Use this to create 5.1 surround sound, or add another SONOS One to upgrade to stereo sound. With multi-room listening, SONOS speakers that don’t have an integrated voice assistant can also be controlled with the SONOS One. That way you can listen to music all over the house and change the volume with an easy voice command.

Discover more functions to help run your smart home

And there’s even more to voice control: The direct connection to Alexa means that you have access to so-called Alexa Skills. You can look up information on Wikipedia, play radio from the internet, set timers and reminders, manage your to do lists, and much more. The features aren’t just limited to the location of the Samrt Speaker. Alexa can be linked with Office 365, Google, or other services so you can manage your calendar from any location. You can also control your other smart home devices with the SONOS One: Give simple voice commands to control your thermostat, lights, security cameras, and much more. The SONOS One is not just a first-class speaker for music fans, but it also brings together your entire connected home. With just a few voice commands, you can play your favorite playlist, set mood lighting, and sit back and relax.

How to set up your SONOS One

Your SONOS sound system can be connected with the smart voice assistant in just a few easy steps. Connect the SONOS One to power and turn it on. Download the SONOS app on your smartphone and follow the instructions in the app to set up your SONOS system. If you're using Alexa for example, Download the Alexa, search for SONOS and activate it. Add the SONOS One to the Alexa app by saying, “Alexa, discover my devices.” Go to the “Smart Home” category in the app and select “Devices”. Once Alexa has found all your SONOS devices, you can control them with your voice.

In Conclusion

The smart speaker masterfully brings smart home technology into the control of your music speaker. The speaker works alongside all of your other smart home devices, but its sheer audio power means it will surely steal the spotlight in any connected home.
