Product Information

  • Powerful tech: The Samsung SmartThings Motion Sensor can detect motion up to 15 ft. away with a 120-degree field of view. It's also battery powered, so you can place it anywhere. The quick-tilt magnet ball mount allows you to change the angle of the motion sensor with ease.
  • Instantly see where your pets are: Is the cat always hiding himself away in your home, making you worried that he may have wandered off somewhere? Simply place a motion sensor in your basement, attic or garage to instantly know if they're hiding in the farthest reaches of your home.
  • Security for your valuables: A car is stolen every 7 minutes in the US, oftentimes directly from the owners' garages. This is where motion triggering can come in handy - place the SmartThings Motion Sensor in your garage and have activity trigger a video camera. You'll have solid video evidence of the perpetrators should your car be stolen.
  • Just ask Alexa: Using an Amazon Alexa device like the Amazon Echo in your home? Then you can simply ask Alexa to activate your motion sensor routines (such as your Night, Home or Away routines).
  • More than a motion sensor:The SmartThings device also functions as a smart temperature sensor. It can thus also be used to trigger devices like thermostats, the AC and portable heaters for more convenient use.

The SmartThings App

What really makes this motion sensor so powerful is the app at the centre of the device. Here's a couple of key features that make it stand out:

  • It's intuitive to integrate new smart devices into your SmartThings app. Just go to 'Automation' and then to 'SmartApps' to see the full list of compatibilities and automations available for the Motion Sensor.
  • You can establish multiple rules that help to device to function by itself. For example, use motion to trigger a light to activate in your closet for 1 minute, then establish a second rule to have the light turn off if motion hasn't been detected for longer than 1 minute.

You can also use the SmartThings App to access all your various SmartThings devices from the same location. Access your wireless router system, button, water leak sensor, and multipurpose arrival sensor from one convenient location.
