Mounting and installation
All you need to set up the Nest Cam Outdoor is a screwdriver, an outlet, and an active WiFi connection. The rest is included in package. The installation is simple, so there’s no need for a handyman.
Smart connections and extra safeguards
The Google Nest Outdoor Cam can be connected with smart lights from OSRAM Lightify and Philips Hue. This means that when an activity is recognized, the lights at the door can be automatically turned on so that you can see what’s going on even better. You can have the lights switch on automatically in order to give the impression that someone’s home. This adds an extra level of security to your home. If you want an even higher level of security, you can subscribe to one of the three optional Nest Aware plans.

- What advantages are there to adding a Google Nest Aware subscription to my Google Nest Outdoor Cam?
With the Google Nest Aware subscription, recordings from the last 5, 10, or 30 days are saved in the cloud. You can also define specific areas, and the camera will send you special notifications if movement is detected there.
Can I use the Google Nest Cam Outdoor without a Google Nest Aware subscription?Yes. In this case, motion-activated video clips will only be saved for 3 hours in the cloud. Full footage is not available without a subscription.
What subscription plans are available with Google Nest Aware?At the moment there are three different plans:
- 5-day data storage for $5 a month
- 10-day data storage for $10 a month
- 30-day data storage for $30 a month
These prices are for equipping one camera with Nest Aware. If you’d like to upgrade additional cameras, you’ll receive a discount of 50% on the subscription.
Subscriptions can be cancelled at the end of each month and are also available as reduced-price annual subscriptions.
