What's the point in buying a HD Security camera if you can't intervene during an emergency? The Arlo Q Plus comes with a 2-way intercom, so you can scare off intruders in the event of a break-in. Infrared night vision means the camera continues to monitor what's going on at night, with the camera continuing to deliver motion notifications when it's pitch black. A great feature is the ability to create motion zones, particular parts of a room that you want to pay special attention to. These are great for protecting valuables and reducing false alarms.

All the advantages of Netgear Arlo Q Plus at a glance
  • View the live stream anywhere

  • Instant alerts and notifications

Arlo Q Plus is the bigger brother of the Arlo Q HD Security Camera, with a few key upgrades when it comes to connecting up the camera. It has a MicroSD port that can store up to 128GB of video for security and ease of access. An Ethernet port lets you connect the camera directly to your internet for more consistent video quality. The most exciting addition is the inclusion of a Power over Ethernet (PoE) port, which allows you to both power and connect the camera with a single cable (so there's no need to connect the camera to an outlet).

Product Information

  • See it all: Arlo Q Plus records with a 130-degree field-of-view, meaning it can see virtually everything that's going on in the room. The camera also has an 8x digital zoom, allowing you to see the tiniest detail.
  • 7 days of cloud storage: You can view the last 7 days of clips recorded in the app, where you can share, download or delete clips as you wish. Netgear offers a subscription package which allows you to expand the storage available, or even have everything the camera sees uploaded to the cloud.
  • Custom recording: There are four different options when it comes to determining when the camera records footage and delivers notifications. You can simply have the camera always record or turn off recording completely (Arm/Disarm), create a recording schedule, or even have recording switch on or off based on your current location (Geofencing).
  • Instant alerts: Arlo Q Plus alerts you immediately when it detects motion or sound. You can then press the notification to access the clip recorded, as well as tune-in to the live stream to get an overview of what's going on. This helps you to react quickly in the event of a break-in.
  • Connect it up: The camera is compatible with both smart software and hardware, allowing you to connect it to your existing smart home. You can call up your live feed with the Google and Alexa voice assistants, or use motion detection from the camera to trigger other devices using IFTTT and SmartThings.

The Arlo Q Plus - 1080p HD Security Camera in action!

3 different ways to use your camera

While the Arlo Q only functions over Wi-Fi, the Arlo Q plus gives you three options when it comes to connecting up and using your camera:

  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) lets you power the camera and connect it to the internet with a single cable. This is a great way to cut down on cables and get a more consistent video quality at the same time. You'll need a PoE switch to be able to make use of this option - a PoE adapter for the Arlo camera is included at delivery.
  • If you want to power the camera via AC, but are looking to get a more stable internet connection, you can also make use of the regular Ethernet port. This will save the camera from competing for bandwidth on your Wi-Fi network.
  • The Arlo Q Plus also includes the option to simply connect over Wi-Fi.

Just the right placement

You have three choices when it comes to how you place the camera, with each choice having its advantages depending on what you want to use the camera for:

If you want to disguise the camera from view, the best option is to simply place it down in a location where it won't be seen. The Arlo Plus Q's white exterior makes it suitable for a variety of settings, with popular placement options including on a side-table, shelf or on-top of a mantelpiece.

Want to record a room in its entirety? The included wall-mount allows you to place the camera high up on the wall, giving you the perfect angle for seeing everything that's going on. This makes it easier for other to detect the camera, although the camera's white shell will blend in somewhat with neutrally painted interiors.

The final option for mounting the camera is to use the camera's magnetic base to snap it to a metal surface. A great way to make use of this magnet is to snap the camera to a refrigerator - perfect for keeping an eye on everything that's happening in the kitchen.

Arlo's subscription plans give you more

Arlo's Netgear's subscription plans allow you to access video clips from a longer time span, use even more cameras in your home, or even record 24/7. Below is an overview of the plans available:

  • Arlo's Premier Plan allows you to store up 30 days of cloud recordings from 10 different cameras - available for $9.99 month/$99 year.
  • The Elite Plan gives you up to 60 days of cloud storage and allows you to use up to 15 cameras. You can get this plan for $14.99 month/149$ year.
  • If you want to record everything that the camera records, you can also get a Continuous Video Recording plan. You can get 14 days of 24/7 CVR each month for $9.99 per month/$99 per year (per camera) or 30 days of 24/7 CVR per month for $19.99 month/$199 year (per camera). This is booked in addition to either the Premier or Elite plan.
